Do you offer a before-school and after-school child care program?
We contract with a private licensed childcare provider, The Marin YMCA, which offers these services on the NCS campus to our community.
How do I apply?
Complete our online application by the deadline. Prospective families are encouraged to take a school tour before applying. We also request that you read our School and Family Partnership Agreement before applying.
What is your class size?
Class size is currently 24-30 students, depending on the grade level.
Do you participate in state testing?
Yes. We participate in the Smarter Balanced assessment system, which is based on Common Core State Standards. See the Common Core for more information.
What kind of a curriculum do you use?
Our curriculum is guided by the Core Principles of Public Waldorf℠ Education as established by the Alliance for Public Waldorf℠ Education. This curriculum is based on pedagogical ideas developed by Rudolf Steiner, which have been refined by over 100 years of Waldorf Education. Using Waldorf Education as a framework, we closely align our curriculum with current state and national standards.

Do you charge tuition?
No. We receive funding from the State of California, which is supplemented by funds from the Novato Charter School Foundation, a 501(c)(3). The Foundation is funded by donations from families along with money raised at our annual school fundraiser, “The Enchanted Garden.” The Foundation also receives donations from friends, alumni, and corporate sponsors.
Is Novato Charter School a public school?
Yes. We are a public school of choice open to any student residing in California. We receive funding from the State of California and we operate under the auspices of the Novato Unified School District.
